A Service of Repentance

On October 4th at 10:30 a.m. the Episcopal Church will hold a Solemn Service of Repentance in accordance with General Convention Resolution A123. The purpose of the service is to provide an opportunity for the Church to publicly apologize for its involvement in the Institution of Transatlantic Slavery. The service, which is being held at The African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas at 6361 Lancaster Avenue, Philadelphia will be officiated by The Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori.
In addition to the service, the church will be hosting an exhibition exploring slavery and its effects on the church and society and diocesan responses to Resolution A123.
There is no charge to attend either the service or the exhibition but registration is necessary. For more information, go to the diocesan web site at www.diopa.org and look for the link to register.
