All Things Come of Thee, O Lord
03/06/2008
Thirty years ago The Episcopal Church stated that stewardship is at the heart of the life of the church. At the time many felt uncomfortable with that formulation. We thought of "stewardship" as a euphemism for the annual appeal to fund the parish budget.
Over the decades we've come to appreciate the affirmation that "all things come of thee, O Lord" and that we are called to be good stewards of our entire lives, individual and corporate.
Our lives are where the action is in God's plan to redeem the world through the death and resurrection of Christ.
This past year has been amazing one at St. Luke and The Epiphany. God continues to do a new thing, bringing us together as a community of worship and witness. Each of us must consider what commitment we will make to the building up of this particular community and the larger church.
Sure, budgets must be funded. But our commitment of time, of talent and of money is more importantly a part of our larger commitment to be a living member of the Body of Christ in every aspect of your life.
Because of the capital campaign,Preserving our Past, Building our Future, we have waited until the season of Advent to ask for your pledges for 2008. The materials will be sent out to everyone in a week or so. Please prayerfully consider your response.
