Final Words From The 76th General Convention
09/02/2009
On Sunday August 2nd Rodger gave us a summary of what happened at the recently concluded 76th General Convention of the Episcopal Church.
As one of eight clergy and lay deputies representing our diocese Rodger shared his unique perspective of the proceedings and what he felt were some of its implications for our lives as members of the larger Church.
As promised here is a sampling of documents related to the convention that help to tell its story in more depth.
The first document is the text of resolution D056 dealing with liturgies for blessings for same-sex couples.
The second is a speach given by Dr. Jenny Plane Te Paa, Lay Member of the Anglican Consultative Council and Dean of Te Rau Kahikatea (College of St. John the Evangelist) in Auckland, New Zealand, on July 11 to the House of Deputies.
The third document is an open follow-up letter written by The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Rowan Williams titled Communion, Covenant and our Anglican Future; Reflections on the Episcopal Church's 2009 General Convention from the Archbishop of Canterbury for the Bishops, Clergy and Faithful of the Anglican Communion.
