Harvest Home Food Drive
12/20/2008
During the months of November and December we will again conduct a "Harvest Home" in-gathering of nonperishable food items to benefit the food bank at the Mazzoni Center, 1201 Chestnut Street. Baskets will be available in the Narthex and brought to the Altar as part of the Offertory.
The Mazzoni Center is best known for providing primary medical and HIV/AIDS case management health services to the sexual minority and HIV/AIDS affected community. However, the center also sponsors a food bank that serves over 700 low-income clients a month, many families with children affected by HIV/AIDS. Ninety percent of the food bank’s clients are living at or below the federal poverty level, approximately 35% of the households served have a single female head, and 25% of the total clients are children.
