Millenium Development Goals
12/31/2009
Supported by your love and prayers, 13 parishioners met after the Holy Eucharist on Sunday November 22nd, to discuss the allocation of our Parish Millennium Development Goal resources to Episcopal Relief and Development. Our strong consensus was that we wanted to fund community development and sustainability efforts. We felt particularly drawn to MDG goal #1 to "eradicate extreme hunger and poverty" with special concern for growing "food insecurity."
After considerable discussion we chose to share in supporting 1) a community garden - training, seeds, and tools to establish a reliable food supply 2) a community well - clean water and basic sanitation and 3) micro-credit loans for small businesses - money and tools and training for new ventures.
Episcopal Relief and Development will provide a speaker to meet with us sometime after the first of the year so that we can get a clearer idea of their allocation process and resources on the ground. ER-D catalogues are still available in the Narthex should you with to give a gift in honor of someone who as everything. Thank you for all of your input and support.
